Justin Reid Latest News
Heading to New Orleans

Reid is slated to a sign a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the Saints, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Reid spent the last three seasons in Kansas City and played a pivotal role in the Chiefs' three straight Super Bowl appearances (including victories in 2022 and 2023). Across 16 regular-season games in 2024 he posted 87 tackles (61 solo) and nine pass defenses (including two interceptions), and the 2018 third-round pick has logged at least 80 combined tackles in five of seven NFL seasons. Reid and Tyrann Mathieu are expected to serve as the Saints' starting safeties for the 2025 campaign.
Totals 87 tackles in 2024

Reid finished the 2024 season with 87 tackles (61 solo) and nine pass breakups, including two interceptions, across 16 regular-season games. Reid didn't play in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the Broncos, as the Chiefs rested all of their key starters, so that was his only missed game of the year. Otherwise, Reid played 97 percent of the defensive snaps for Kansas City. He's yet to miss a game to injury during his three seasons with the team. Reid is wrapping up a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the Chiefs and is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. He turns 28 years old in February.
Active but unlikely to play

Reid is active for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Reid will suit up for Sunday's regular-season finale, but he's unlikely to see the field as the Chiefs are set as the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Jaden Hicks will likely see the majority of snaps at strong safety instead of Reid.
Likely out for Week 18

Reid (coach's decision) is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Broncos. The 27-year-old from Stanford is likely to rest with the Chiefs' starters in Sunday's divisional contest, as Kansas City has already locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs. Reid was productive in 16 games this season, recording 87 total tackles and nine passes defended, including two interceptions. Jaden Hicks is expected to serve as the Chiefs' top strong safety if Reid doesn't suit up in Week 18.
Picks off pass on Christmas Day

Reid recorded five tackles (all solo) and intercepted a pass in Wednesday's 29-10 Week 17 victory against the Steelers. Reid's interception halted a Pittsburgh drive that had reached KC's 18-yard line, as he picked off a Russell Wilson throw in the end zone. It was the second interception for the veteran safety this season and his first since Week 7 versus San Francisco. Reid also has notched 87 tackles on the campaign, eight shy of the career-high 95 he finished with in the regular season last year.
Decent showing in Week 12

Reid recorded six tackles (five solo) during Sunday's 30-27 win at Carolina. After Sunday's performance, Reid has now logged at least six tackles in four of the Chiefs' last six contests. He has set a pace of production that could allow him to amass 100 tackles over the course of the season, and he'll be trying to keep his foot on the gas in Week 13 versus the Raiders.
Seven stops vs. Denver

Reid logged seven total tackles (three solo), including one tackle for loss, in Sunday's 16-14 win over the Broncos. Reid has now accumulated 50 total tackles and three passes defended, including one interception, through the Chiefs' first nine games this season. He's tied for the team lead in interceptions and ranks second in total tackles. Expect Reid to continue starting alongside Bryan Cook as part of the Chiefs' top safety duo in Week 11's matchup against the Bills.
Leads team in tackles

Reid recorded nine tackles (six solo), an interception and a pass defensed in Sunday's 28-18 win over the 49ers. The safety also played on 93 percent of the defensive snaps. Reid has 35 tackles (24 solo), two passes defensed and an interception in 2024.
Racks up nine tackles Week 1

Reid tallied nine tackles (eight solo) during Thursday's 27-20 win over the Ravens. Reid played 100 percent of defensive snaps Week 1, finishing as Kansas City's second-leading tackler behind Jaylen Watson. Coming off a career 2023 season, Reid will look to continue building off his momentum Week 2 versus the Bengals.
