Adam Prentice: Everything you need to know

Prentice and the Broncos agreed to terms on a one-year contract Wednesday, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports. Prentice opened the 2025 season on the Broncos' practice squad before being signed to the active roster in late September. He played in all 17 regular-season games and both of Denver's playoff tilts. Prentice saw some snaps on offense as a backfield blocker while also serving on special teams, and he should reprise those roles for the Broncos in 2026.

Prentice ended the 2025 regular season with 10 carries for 44 yards, adding six receptions on eight targets for 53 yards across 17 games. He added one catch for three yards over two playoff contests. Prentice was minimally involved in the Broncos' offensive attack this season, playing at least 25 percent of snaps in just three games in 2025. The veteran fullback, instead, played a higher percentage of his snaps on special teams. Prentice was promoted to Denver's active roster from the practice squad for the first three games, ultimately leading the Broncos to sign him to the active roster for the remainder of the season. The 29-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so he'll perhaps be signed back with the Broncos based on his familiarity with head coach Sean Payton's system. If not, he'd likely garner interest from other teams around the league.

Prentice carried once for minus-1 yard while playing 17 of 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 34-26 win over the Packers. Heading into Sunday, Prentice had garnered just seven carries (for 42 yards) and six receptions (for 53 yards) through 13 games, but the Broncos surprisingly turned to the fullback to try and salt the win away. Rather than punting or attempting a field goal from Green Bay's 37-yard line with just over a minute remaining, head coach Sean Payton instead dialed up a run for Prentice on 4th-and-1. The defense stuffed Prentice short of the line to gain to extend the game, but the Packers turned the ball over on downs on their ensuing possession to secure the victory for Denver.
