Tress Way: Breaking News

Signs extension with Washington

The Commanders signed Way to a one-year extension Tuesday, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports. Way will now remain in Washington through the 2026 campaign, where he has spent the entirety of his 12-year career. The 35-year-old punted 56 times for 2,651 yards in 2025 and had 29 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

Good to go vs. Green Bay

Way (back) is active for Thursday's game against the Packers. Way popped up on Monday's injury report due to a back injury, but he's gone through pregame warmups without suffering a setback and will play in Thursday's contest. Way averaged 49.0 yards per punt on five attempts against the Giants in Week 1, with a long of 64 yards.

Questionable for Thursday

Way (back) is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's game at Green Bay. Way left the Commanders' contest in Week 1 early with a back issue, but his participation at practice Tuesday and Wednesday signals there's a chance he could return to game action as soon as Thursday. If he can't go, Washington could choose to elevate Mitch Wishnowsky from its practice squad to its active roster for Week 2.
